The founders of OOBT got their start in the trucking industry many years ago, back in the day when 48’ trailers just became legal, and a sleeper was a 36” wide steel box bolted to the back of the cab. For the past several years, we have been directly involved with helping potential and current owner-operators secure financing for Class 8 tractors & trailers. “Directly” in this case means we borrowed a lot of money to finance owner-operators and we still had to pay the bank even if an owner-operator could not make a truck payment. You can bet that having owner-operators be successful so that they could make their truck payments was a top priority in our business.
With over 3,000 owner-operator financing transactions completed, it didn’t take long to discover trends that contributed to owner-operator success, and unfortunately, owner-operator failure.
